Product
The optical fiber fabric developed and manufactured by GDH is a
high-tech product integrating both textile and fiber optics
technologies. The product is developed through a close collaboration
with the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI), a national
research organization specialized in textile manufacturing processes
technology. It is not only the industryˇ¦s leading development in
Asia, but also the worldˇ¦s first optical fiber fabric that can be
put into mass production.
The product adopts a patented, Side Lighting, super-thin plastic
optical fiber as its weaving material. The uniqueness of such a
fiber is that with the light source it illuminates throughout the
entire fiber instead of just at the terminals of the fiber. Using
traditional weaving techniques and textile yarns, the optical fiber
can be woven into various kinds of fabrics. Such fabrics, in the
daytime, look similar to other fabrics displaying the pre-determined
color of the yarn. However, in the nighttime or at a dark place the
fabrics equipped with different color light sources will offer
translucent, serene, and vivid neon-like lighting; hence,
demonstrate various distinctive visual effects and increase the
added-value of the end-products.
